I International Seminar of Cultural Psychology
The first edition of the International Seminaries of Cultural Psychology was held from August 1st to 17th, 2006, in Salvador, Bahia, supported by FAPESB, with Dr. Jaan Valsiner (Clark University, EUA); Dr. Aaro Toomela (University of Tallin, Estonia); Dra. Angela Branco (University of Brasília); Dra. Elaine Rabinovich (Catholic University of Salvador/University of São Paulo), Dra. Maria Lyra (Federal University of Pernambuco), Dr. Naomar de Almeida Filho and Dr. Antônio Marcos Chaves (Federal University of Bahia), and also with students (graduate and undergraduate) from Federal University of Bahia.
On days August 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th, from 10am to 12pm, Dr. Aaro Toomela did at Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) a group of open lectures, about “The matter of culture at Vygotsky´s thought”.
On August 8th, 9th, 11th, 15th and 17th, from 2pm to 5pm, Dr. Jaan Valsiner gave a Seminar about Development and Diversity: questions on theory and method.
On August 14th, from 4pm to 6pm, Dr. Jaan Valsiner gave the lecture “Psychology as a ship: into shipwreck or a new harbor?” at UFBA.
II International Seminar of Cultural Psychology
The second edition of the International Seminar of Cultural Psychology, organized by the research group “Childhood, Development and Cultural Contexts” was held from February 23rd to March 3rd, in 2012.

Federal University of Brasília (UnB) – Dra. Ângela Branco
University of São Paulo (USP) – Dra. Lívia Mathias Simão
Catholic University of Salvador (UCSal) – Dra. Elaine Pedreira Rabinovitch
That last edition had three moments:
1) From February 23rd to 25th, two open conferences were made to general publica the university and a lecture for students of Postgraduate were performed:
The first one was part of UFBA´s scientific session (“Café Científico”, a series of interdisciplinar lectures and debates to academic community and the public in general) and was made by Prof. Valsiner, with the title “How Psychology fails: a cultural semiotic approach”.

The second one was made by Dr. Tatsuya Sato, entitled “ Human Rights in Brazil and Japan: Cultural Psychology´s contributions”.
Besides those, the researchers took part in other activities: meetings on Human Rights and Juridical Psychology (Dr. Tatsuy Sato); research fields trips (both researchers); examination of two doctoral dissertations from the Post-Graduation Program in Psychology (Dr. Jaan Valsiner).
It was also held a lecture for students of Graduate entitled "Traps Semiotics", which was presented by Kenneth R. Cabell - PhD student Clark University.
2) Workshop, from February 27th to 29th, 2012, in Pousada Jambo, in Itacimirim, in which there were professors and students from 5 Post-Graduation Programs (from Bahia: UFBA and Catholic University; from São Paulo, USP; from Brasília, UnB and Recife, UFPE). There were also invited foreign researchers Dr. Jaan Valsiner (Clark University), Dr. Tatsuya Sato (Ritsumeikan University), Dr. Tania Zittoun (University of Neuchâtel), and Dr. Nandita Chaudhary (University of Delhi). It was an opportunity to discuss the projects that were being developed in the research group “Childhood, Development and Cultural Contexts”, coordinated by Dr. Ana Cecília Bastos (with professor, doctoral and másters students).
3) Academic visits by foreign researchers from March 1st to 3rd to other Programs (UCSal, USP, UnB, UFPE), aiming to optimize the exchange experience.
